After seeking guidance from the Scottish Government we are now able to slowly begin rehoming dogs, but still within reasonable travelling distance and in line with our safety policy. We have been extremely restricted in rehoming activity so sadly very few dogs have gone to their forever homes recently.
However, we have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have applied to adopt or foster during the coronavirus pandemic. Around 160 application since the 1st of March! We've done some virtual home checks with applicants who had experience with sighthounds. Applicants without experience, or with cats, young children or other small animals have had the option of going on our waiting list.
It's going to take some time for us to work through the backlog and the waiting lists, so if you have applied or are thinking of applying please be patient. We will continue to place new applicants on a waiting list until we can get up to date.
All walks and events are still cancelled, but hopefully not for too long.
We will continue to review our practice in line with updates from the government.
The SGS Team is, as always, on hand for any advice, guidance or support that may be required during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have.
Please stay safe everyone and thank you for your ongoing patience and support.
