In light of the latest government advice regarding Covid-19 we are no longer able to carry out routine home checks, which is an essential part of the adoption process. We are therefore prioritising applicants who have sighthound/rescue experience.
For the applicants without experience, or with cats, young children or other small animals, we will give you the option of going on our waiting list. We will process your application once the current crisis has passed.
If you have sighthound and/or rescue experience one of the team will give you a call in the next few days. If possible we will then arrange to carry out a home check by video link.
SGS currently has a number of dogs in our kennels and foster homes. All of these dogs are safe and being well cared for. Transporting dogs is currently restricted to emergencies, so regular rehomings are suspended. But sadly we anticipate more greyhounds being given up in the coming weeks, so emergencies may occur. In such case we will need to have suitable homes available.
All walks and events have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. Sadly this will have a major impact on fundraising, as events such as can collections are our main source of income. We will be exploring ways we can fundraise from the comfort of our own homes over the coming weeks. If anyone has ideas about how we can do this please get in touch!
We will continue to review our practice in line with updates from the government.
The SGS Team is, as always, on hand for any advice, guidance or support that may be required during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have.
Please stay safe everyone and thank you for your ongoing patience and support.
